Pavlikeni, Bulgaria is organizing a seminar on the following topic
"Let's be together
in United Europe." The main goal of the seminar is
to establish contacts between youth organizations in Europe for
co-realization of initiatives on Action 1 and Action 2 of the
Youth Program initiated by the European Commission. The activity
of our and similar are going to be present and the problems of the
youth from Europe and the ways for their overcoming are going to
be discussed. The accent will be put on the priorities in the work
of the organizations and exchange of experience between them. The
seminar is taking place in December 2003 in the of Pavlikeni,
Bulgaria. Claims of participation will be accepted until 31 July
2003. An detailed schedule of the seminar will be sent to all
organizations that want to participate in the seminar.

SECOND FULBRIGHT INTERNATIONAL SUMMER INSTITUTE
Pamporovo, August 4-23, 2003
FISI 2003 is scheduled to take place from August 4 to August 23,
2003 in the renowned mountain resort of Pamporovo.
Pamporovo is located in the heart of the legendary Rhodope
Mountains, about a hundred miles southeast of Bulgaria's capital
city of Sofia.FISI will offer one, two or three-week courses in a
wide variety of subject areas.All courses will be taught in
English by distinguished Bulgarian, European and American
professors, most of whom are Fulbright grantees or alumni.The FISI
courses are addressed to undergraduate and graduate students,
university faculty and professionals.All courses will meet daily.
It is recommended that
participants enroll in up to three courses.
Assessment will be based on participation in class and a final
report.
Full participation fee for U.S. and EU students: $ 900 including
local transportation, accommodation, tuition, meals and cultural
program. Partial participation fee: $ 300 per week.Full
participation fee for non-U.S. and non-EU participants: $ 450
including local transportation, accommodation, tuition, meals and
cultural program.Full participation fee for Bulgarian students:
450 BG leva; partial participation: 150 BG leva per week.A limited
number of grants will be available for BG students on a
competitive basis.FISI 2003 will also offer a rich cultural
program, including trips to natural and historical sites,
concerts, ethnic evenings etc.

Postgraduate studies program "Media and intercultural

The program is targeted at post-graduate students from all
Southeast-European and European Union countries, who are currently
working or wish to work in the media sector in Southeast Europe.
The primary target group are journalists and other disseminators
in the Media branch, who are interested in a compact academic
post-secondary degree in the areas of media, conflict management,
intercultural communication, and Southeast-European studies. The
degree "Media & Intercultural Communication" is free of charge. Up
to 25 interested applicants will be admitted into the program.
articipants must have a command of written and spoken German for
purposes of the studies. They should come from Southeast Europe
and/or work in the media sector (TV, Radio, printed media, new
media) in Southeast European countries.They should have already
completed a degree, and experience with the Internet and new media
are desired.

The Center for Democracy and Reconciliation in Southeast Europe
NEW DOCTORAL RESEARCH ON THE HISTORY OF SOUTHEASTERN EUROPE
A WORKSHOP, JUNE 2003, in SOFIA, BULGARIA
The Center for Democracy and Reconciliation in Southeastern Europe
is convening a workshop to present, compare and discuss new
doctoral research relevant to the history of Southeastern Europe.
The workshop seeks to bring together younger scholars who have
undertaken the primary research for their doctoral dissertations
or who have completed their dissertations within the recent past
(typically 3-4 years). In addition to dissertations from History
Departments, those that deal primarily with the history of any
part of the region but are being done or completed in departments
other than History are also welcome.
Younger scholars from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria,
Croatia, FY Republic of Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, and
Yugoslavia are invited to apply. A limited number of spaces are
also available for students who originate from other countries but
who are working on Balkan issues. The 15 selected will be
notified by March 15 and asked to submit a 5-page summary of their
dissertations' findings, methods and sources to the Center by
April 15. At the workshop, selectees will be asked to make a 15-20
minute oral presentation on their work, as well as a 10-minute
discussion on somebody else's pre-circulated presentation to
others selected, and to 6 senior historians drawn from the
Center's international Board of Eminent Scholars. The majority of
the workshop's time will however be devoted to a joint discussion
of papers and presentations.
Applications should reach the Center by the deadline of February
28, 2003.
All applications, papers, presentations and discussions will be in
English.
Applications should consist of the following:
§ A short CV of three pages maximum
§ A one or two page description of your dissertation and its
main theses.
§ An e-mail or other address for April 1 notification

The travel and accommodation, together with a small honorarium,
will be covered by the Center.
The list of senior scholars attending will be available to
selectees after April 1.
The Center is a non-governmental organisation incorporated in the
Netherlands and based in Thessaloniki, Greece. The Center seeks
to foster democratic and pluralist societies and to encourage
cross-border cooperation and reconciliation between peoples of the
region. The workshop is a part of the History and History
Teaching Project of the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe,

Career Center at the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) is
hosting the Ninth Annual Graduate School Fair to be held on
Wednesday, November 6, 2002.
The goal of the Graduate School Fair is to provide the AUBG
students and graduates with information on the best opportunities
for continuing their education and to facilitate the contact
between students, graduate schools, and organizations offering
financial support for academic endeavors.
The American University in Bulgaria is an independent,
international academic institution founded in 1991. As a joint
Bulgarian-American initiative, it is a private, highly selective,
residential undergraduate university with a strong liberal arts
orientation, offering a four-year baccalaureate degree. Our
students pursue majors in Economics, Business Administration,
