PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES:
This project will raise the capacity of the environmental non-governmental
organisations (NGOs), in the Central and East European (Phare) countries, by
transfer of experience from the successful environmental NGOs in the EU Member
State (EU15) countries through twinning, mentoring and information exchange.
PRIORITIES:
The Commission will give priority to projects that are intended to develop basic
skills, such as: working with industry, attracting funds, collaboration with
sectoral ministries and environment ministries, project management,
communication to the public and motivating of volunteers.
Priority will also be given to projects where the lead applicant can demonstrate
its future potential, in terms of a wide scope of activities and in terms of a
large target audience. Furthermore priority will be given to projects where the
lead applicant has a real need for external assistance, and is not already
receiving extensive support from EU15 NGOs.
GEOGRAPHICAL AREA: Central and East European (Phare) countries: Bulgaria, Czech
Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia,
Slovenia; and the 15 EU Member States.
WHO CAN APPLY: NGOs active in the field of environment
FINANCING CONDITIONS AND BUDGET LIMITS:
Minimum grant for a project: EUR 10 000;
Maximum grant for a project: EUR 20 000;
Maximum proportion of project costs to be covered by Community funding: 95 %.
PROJECT DURATION: maximum 12 months
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF GRANTS to be awarded: 42
