The Richter foundation (the Netherlands) is
organsing from 10 till 16 January 2004 a seminar/training to attempt
clarifying the use of theatre for establishing social integration. With
participating in this project we hope that the applicants and their organisations will improve their skills and to feed them with missing knowledge
about the theme. During the seminar/training there are opportunities for
creating European network, building youth bridges and establishing new
contacts and partnership among the applicants.
There will be (maximum) 15 places on the training. We expect that the applicant
is working with the theme theatre and social integration, that they can pass on
the information, skills and contacts, that they have a mandate in order to make
solid agreements and that they can communicate in English.
Almost all of the expenses will be covered by the hosting organisation Richter
Board, local transport and lodging are provided by the hosting organization and
are covered by the project budget;
For Western European countries we will reimbursed 70% of the travel expenses on

The Center for Democracy and Reconciliation in Southeast Europe (CDRSEE)
Internet Forum is a platform for dialogue, that is being extended to include
university students and professors. If you are intersted in taking part or have
a question, please contact Leon Saltiel at:
saltiell@cdsee.org.
The CDRSEE is proposing to lecturers and professors on subjects related to
Southeast Europe to include in their classes one assignment that would be
on-line, posted on the Internet Forum (I.F.).
The students would post their papers on the IF, and would be able to read and
respond to other students' papers. If 5 classes are participating from
different universities, the diversity of responses will likely be great. This
will add an interesting interactive element to the assignment.
The Internet Forum (www.reconcilingforthefuture.org)
is designed as an inclusive dialogue platform that should facilitate a long-term
process of building up a regional consensus on fundamental rights and interests.
Its intentions are to develop both a wider reconciliation network and a
political initiative for the regional stabilisation and association process.
The original plan was that the Forum would live from January 2003 until a
Brainstorming Workshop in April 2003. However, since it has been a fruitful and
useful platform for debate, the CDRSEE is currently exploring ways to keep this
process alive.
By including universities, CDRSEE hopes to enrich the discussions with new
ideas. A professor can ask the students, as a weekly assignment, to respond to a
question or two that will be posted on a special section of the IF. The
professor can then easily grade the papers, while the students can read what
others wrote and comment on them. The ideal would be that professors from
different universities in SE Europe and abroad could choose the same topic and
ask their students to contribute. Then the students from all the participating
universities, people who are already signed up and other groups that we have
invited can also join the discussions and comment upon the ideas.
CDRSEE is also cooperating and attracting audiences from other similar
initiatives like the European Commission's Netd@ys,
the Catholic Relief Services' School Connectivity project, and the Institute for
International Education's IIE Network, while a big pool of regional experts,
government officials and youth activists are already among the 250 registered
users of the IF. Moreover, CDRSEE plans to host officials and artists for online
chats so university students could also participated in them.
Professors who are interested in participating can suggest the topic of the
assignment, and can advise as to whether the assignment would be open to the
public or closed to only the participating students and professors.
The internet forum is sponsored by the US Government via USAID.
